JECKYBENG x NOVESTA - EXPERIENCE THE WORLD ON FOOT
SUSTAINABLE SNEAKER WITH MICROPLASTIC FREE SOLE

The success story of JECKYBENG x NOVESTA began last year with the URBAN OUTDOOR SNEAKER, and now it's entering the second round with a new sneaker: JECKYBENG's MARATHON - the name is based on the original marathon model by NOVESTA, which was specially designed for the Czechoslovak Olympic Games Team for the Games 1988 in Seoul was produced and then developed into a bestseller. The current model is not designed for elite sports, but for any urban outdoor explorer who feels at home in the city and on the grounds.
The sneaker, whose silhouette is strongly reminiscent of the style of the 80s, is produced in the historical factory of NOVESTA in Partizánske - 110 km east of the Slovak capital Bratislava. The upper is made from burl wool - a traditional Portuguese fabric that is created when the wool is made into a thick fabric and then felted to create a weatherproof, durable surface. The NOVESTA characteristic natural rubber outsole is ideal for autumn and longer distances in a little harsher conditions, because the grippy sole provides the necessary grip even on wet surfaces.
Soft lining and a padded EVA midsole also provide a comfortable, muted feel. Classic, wax-covered cotton laces, a colored heel loop and the label on the tongue, are the stylish details of the otherwise simple sneaker.
Not only does the shoe look very good, it also complies with the eco-friendly approach of making natural resource footwear such as wool felt and JECKYBENG's signature water-repellent organic cotton fabric, e.g. also used in The JACKET. The sole of the marathon is made of 100% natural rubber and thus avoids the unnecessary abrasion of microplastic particles. According to a study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environment and Safety from the year 2018, the abrasion of shoe soles is ranked 7th of the annual per capita ejections of microplastic - the abrasion of car tires remains the undisputed number one.
