Could you please introduce yourselves?
Johannes „Jo“ Riffelmacher, 30, born in Eichstätt/Bavaria, former Art Director living
in Hamburg for about 7 years.
Thomas „Cozy“ Kosikowski, 27, born in Nürnberg/Bavaria, former Photographer and
Director of Photography, living in Hamburg for about 5 years.
How did you guys came up with the idea of Saltn’ Silver?
We wanted to go on a big trip for a year. For both of us the time at that moment was
perfect for it – Jo quit his job, Cozy finished his studies. So went to latin america for a
year to travel, surf and learn things about real latin american food. We always loved
cooking and a surf & travel cooking book seemed to be the perfect fusion from all our
passions. We needed a name for the project that could fit to other projects in the future
as well so we named it Salt & Silver. Salt for the salty water in the ocean, the salt you
use in the kitchen – Silver for the surface of the ocean when the sun shines or the
knives and pots you use in the kitchen.
Is there any favorite spot/country and why?
Mexico: Epic waves, amazing food, the most friendly people on this planet.
Galapagos: if you dive or surf – this spot will blow your mind!
What makes you happy?
Surf – travel – cook ☺
What project(s) are you currently working on?
We are about to publish our second cookbook (Tacos Tequila Tattoos). As well we
produced a high end Mezcal with friends from Mexico and will sell it all over
Germany (selling starts end of july). We are planning to open up a restaurant and the
third book is in the pipeline as well.
What do you do for a living?
Books, content production for big brands (Lufthansa, Rewe, Saturn), Catering,
What is one thing most people would be surprised to learn about you?
That we actually work a lot ☺
Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?
Same shit different day.
Tell us something about your home, Hamburg.
We love that city because we have an amazing group of friends, everybody supports
each other. No greed, just support. We have some cool bars and clubs (we go to berlin
if we want to have a proper session though). Weather is „okay“ but we have a lot of
cool corners all over the city to do something. Although there are almost 2 million
people, everything is pretty close cause most of things are located in just 3 quarters
around St. Pauli. Hamburg feels like a village. Come and visit us!
How does a typical day in the life of Cozy and Jo look like?
There is no typical day but food is a different part of everyday for sure ☺

Is not defined by location or action, it´s how you experience even the simplest things. Most
of the people are just looking for sensations and can´t celebrate the easy things anymore.
