Could you please introduce yourself?
Hi! I’m Andrea, designer, explorer and hungry cyclist! I’m 29 years old and I was born in north Italy close by Venice. I grew up in a town in the Alps near the Austrian border. The woods and the local mountains have been my playground! I’ve spent my life exploring spaces and technologies, making my own gear or just hacking existing gear!
How did you came up with the idea of Sentier and the bike trolley?
I wanted to create a luggage to make it much easier to handle your stuff while traveling by bike no matter if a road, mtb or commuting vehicle. I’ve spent the last 5 years working on it in my free time and then I decided to startUp a little business to develop even more the project and present it to all the passionate bike travellers around the world!
On which projects have you worked so far?
The Bike Trolley is the first project as Sentier Adventure Gear, but before I’ve been working on different design related fields, from bicycles and tech stuff to furniture and lamps designs!
What do you do for a living?
I’m a Freelance Industrial Designer. I work with design studios and companies to help close the gap between concept and engineering development. I love new and old technology and what matter for me it’s make the right use of each tech but in a creative and powerful way.
Is there any favourite bike tour? And why?
Too many!! I spent a few months in Scandinavia, Iceland freaked me out completely…
I love the Alps and a dream tour is gonna be the cross of the whole Alps chain + the Pyrenees, because you can meet a multitude of different peoples and cultures while remaining speechless with all these mind-blowing landscapess. All this in just a few weeks!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Around the world! For sure with a bike and some stuff with me! No matter if it’s gonna be design, making, photography or sport. I still have a lot to explore in many ways and I’m still hungry like day one!!!
Tell us something about your home town
The place I belong is my hometown Pergine in the heart of Lagorai Mountain Range, such a wild environment and just a few kilometres from the Dolomites and the Alps! There are lots of lakes, woods, all the ingredients to experience great adventures just a few km from home!
How does a typical day in the life of Andrea Signoretto looks like?
Well lately it’s being too much work! But anytime is good to get out no matter if by bike to visit the Garda Lake, stay on top of the local mountains to take snaps of the sunset,or have a swim in the lake! What matter is to keep the body active! Actually a lot of great ideas and solutions appear in my mind while being outside more often then being in the office! The reality is that i’m working a lot of hours but you know it’s still a big part of the time! I think the key is to keep on doing what you love, to be able to wake up with a smile and be ready shred the world!! When I have really a lot of time, then some exploratory fly fishing is great!!!
What springs to mind for the following keywords?
– Social Media: necessary right now to be connected with the world!
– Music: necessary to keep a rhythm in life!! Right now I am listening a lot to metal core and punk rock!
But I love lots of different musics!
-Role Model: Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia Founder.
– Flow: Better surf it then try to swim against it!!
– Inspiration: Nature, animals and anything which has a positive impact to our society and environment
-Adventure: It can be in our neighborhood or in the most remote place like the Kola Peninsula. What matter is the exploratory approach!!
Thanks a lot!! It has been great fun to answer these questions!!!
